Fullcircle nw CIC is excited to announce we’re leading a new community co-design partnership in Chadderton South. We’ll be working alongside First Choice Homes Oldham and Great Places Housing Group, focusing on the Coalshaw Green and Butler Green neighbourhoods. Having successfully partnered with both organisations on previous projects, we’re thrilled to build on those relationships and take on a leading role.
What Are We Doing?
We’re creating a new tool that will enable residents to directly voice their priorities and influence local decisions. As part of this process, we will explore community strengths and opportunities using asset mapping, a proven community engagement approach.
This partnership is part of a larger national project led by the Quality of Life Foundation (QOLF) and funded by Fusion21. You can learn more about the project here: Neighbourhood and Community Tool to put residents at the heart of decision making – QOLF.
Why This Matters
We know what you might be thinking: “Not another digital tool.” But this one is different because it’s designed to ensure that organisations can effectively act on the feedback they receive. We’ve already seen some of QOLF’s co-design resources, and they are excellent. We can’t wait to get started!
Who Is QOLF?
The Quality of Life Foundation is a research charity dedicated to the belief that a good, affordable home in a well-designed neighbourhood is the foundation of a happy, healthy life. Their vision is to create homes and communities that improve people’s long-term quality of life by focusing on five key outcomes:
- An enabling environment for health and well-being
- Engaged and equitable communities
- An evidence-based planning system
- A long-term stewardship plan for every place
- Consistent evaluation of health and well-being outcomes
Next Steps
We’ll be working with our partners and QOLF to recruit local people from Coalshaw Green and Butler Green to participate in our co-design project. Together, we’ll create better tools for community engagement and local decision-making. Look for details on how to sign up soon!
An Unexpected Bonus
Even before the project officially began, we’ve already seen positive outcomes. Through our partners, we’ve connected with companies in their supply chains and have started a mini-project for young people focused on drone-flying skills. A big thank you to Ridge and Partners LLP, one of First Choice Homes Oldham’s contractors, for their support!
If you have any questions or want to get involved, please contact Kevin Field, Funding and Social Value Officer at FCHO, at kevin.field@fcho.co.uk.
We’ll keep you updated as the project progresses.
