Unleashing Creativity: The Mix It Up! Arts Project

As a member of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Manchester (BGCGM), we were thrilled to participate in the “Mix It Up! Arts” project, funded by the Arts Council of England in partnership with Z-arts.

Over the course of 40 weeks (extended due to the COVID pandemic), this project integrated art into our weekly Sholver junior youth club sessions. Working with artists from Z-arts, our youth workers delivered eight mini art projects, each focusing on a different art form, including craft, screen printing, poetry, performance, design, and textiles.

The young people showcased their creativity by creating unique pieces of art, which were proudly displayed in the community centre.

Through this program, they had the opportunity to:

Explore different art forms: Participants learned new skills and developed existing ones across multiple artistic disciplines.

Create unique artwork: They produced their own original pieces of art, expressing their creativity and individuality.

Achieve academic recognition: Young people earned the Bronze Arts Award, a nationally recognised certificate for their artistic achievements.

The “Mix It Up! Arts” project provided a valuable platform for young people to explore their artistic talents, build confidence, and develop essential skills.
